Asset Allocation
Questioner: Alan Question: I currently have around 800K in retirement funds in three places. One is Fidelity and I intend to combine the other funds with Fidelity soon before I begin withdrawals through SEPP to fund my early retirement. I currently am 55 and have a couple limited part time jobs and no debts!! My wife also works part time and we do have health insurance through a previous employer. My question is what portfolio balance do you recommend for my situation. Currently I have 125K in a US stock index fund, 160K in a foreign stock fund, and 515K in a balanced fund (60% US stock/40% bonds) with my previous employer 401K. Should my bond portion be in short, intermediate, long term or a combination? View Answer
Questioner: Sam Question: Hello and happy New Year to you, I have a question about my portfolio balance and I was wondering if you could let me know if I have balanced my investments correctly based on my age and numbers of years I have to retire or is it a complete mess. I am 34 and my wife is 29. My gross income is $130,000/yr. My wife does not work and we have no kids. As of right now I have invested in the following mutual founds and I am not sure if I have invested heavily in one or more sectors than I should. View Answer
